NORMAN, Okla.— The Wildcats gave the Sooners all they could handle on Tuesday night, pushing OU to extra points in set two, but were unable to grab a set as they fell 3-0. ACU got out to a phenomenal start as they were able to capitalize off early errors from the Sooners to take a 14-9 lead in set one. OU was able to come back behind a 9-1 run that gave them an 18-16 lead and the momentum to earn the set one win.
Set two was a battle of wills for the teams as the Wildcats were able to get out to another early lead, 14-10, before the Sooners began their climb back. Down 24-22, ACU earned the next two points off of an Oklahoma service error and a Breanna Box kill to push the set into extra points. Lindsey Toney had three kills over a five-point span that saw the match go from a 25-all tie to a 28-27 lead for ACU. The teams continued to trade points but it was Oklahoma who used a service ace and a kill to close out set two 33-31. The Sooners took the momentum from that set win to open a 7-1 lead in set three and get the win 25-15 in set three.
Scoring Summary
Set 1: 19-25
Set 2: 31-33
