Todd Tabbed UAC Freshman of the Week After Standout Weekend

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Abilene Christian volleyball's Alyssa Todd was recognized for her sizzling start with United Athletic Conference Freshman of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday. Todd totaled 46 kills at a .313 attack percentage as the Wildcats picked up a pair of wins over Houston Christian and Texas Southern last week.
The Aledo, Texas product has emerged as one of ACU's most productive players in her first season on campus. Todd leads the squad with 68 kills at a .247 clip, good for 3.24 kills per set. Her 74.5 points pace the Wildcats. Todd had her highest output of the season with 17 kills at .300 in ACU's 3-1 victory at Texas Southern on Friday.
Todd's 17 kills tied for the most in a match by a freshman in ACU's Division I era, joining teammate Hadlee Welch last season and Katelyn Mueller in 2017. The previous high by a freshman came with Jennifer Loerch's two 18-kill efforts in 2012.
Todd showcased her efficiency with a 15-kill performance as ACU pushed Houston to five sets on the road on Thursday. She registered a .400 attack percentage with two blocks, including a solo rejection, and a service ace. Todd added 14 kills versus Houston Christian on Friday, swinging .256 to go with two solo blocks and an ace.
The outside hitter has established herself as one of the top players in the conference in the early going, ranking sixth with 3.24 kills per set. Todd's 3.55 points per frame are good for eighth. She leads all UAC true freshmen in both categories.
The Wildcats return to action with a trio of games in Oklahoma this weekend. ACU takes on Oral Roberts in Tulsa at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday before visiting the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman at 2 p.m. Sunday.
