ACU hosts North Texas Sunday afternoon

ABILENE – The ACU soccer team continues its stretch of non-conference Sunday games with its second home match of the season when it welcomes in the North Texas Mean Green of Conference USA. The Wildcats (1-3) will look to end a two-match losing streak when they battle the Mean Green, and will look for their first-ever win over UNT. The game kicks off at 1 p.m. at Elmer Gray Stadium and can be seen on the WAC Digital Network.

ACU STORYLINES

  • LAST TIME OUT: The Wildcats fell 1-0 to Texas State last Sunday at Elmer Gray Stadium. TXST scored in the 87' to win the game.
  • DEFENDING HOME FIELD: The 'Cats are 17-4-4 at Elmer Gray Stadium since the start of the 2018 season. ACU went undefeated at home in 2019 (6-0-2).
  • SEASON LEADERS: Natalie Jones leads the way with two goals scored, and Christina Arteaga's 13 shot attempts are a team-high. Arteaga also leads the way in shots on frame with seven. Lily Foster has played every minute in net and has tallied 23 saves.

SCOUTING NORTH TEXAS

  • The Mean Green (3-1-2) take on SFA Friday night in Denton before coming to Abilene on Sunday.
  • UNT tied Oklahoma in Norman, 2-2, last Sunday.
  • Madi Drenowatz leads the way with four goals scored, and Taylor Tufts' 23 shot attempts and 12 SOG are a team-high. Sarah Fuller, who kicked on the Vanderbilt football team in 2020, is the starting goalkeeper, who comes into the weekend with 14 saves.
