ABILENE – The wide receiver position at ACU continues to be one that features a ton of athleticism and versatility, with former walk-on
Kobe Clark highlighting the group after a couple of impressive seasons. With a nearly even split between pass plays and run plays, the Wildcats will once again ask a lot from their receiving corps, hoping to be able to mix in some big plays with a strong presence of consistency.
"There's a lot of different tweaks to our offense, and it's very important for the wide receivers to understand those," wide receivers coach
James Curlee said. "I'm excited about the way the football IQ has grown in our room over the last year. Across the board, our offense has more big-play ability than we have in a while. We have to be able to get on the perimeter and make plays, but we also understand the importance of being able to block. We know how good the running back room is, and our guys have bought into that because we know that the run game helps open the pass game for us."
RETURNERS
Kobe Clark, redshirt junior | Sweetwater, Texas
ACU's leading returner among the wideouts, Clark hauled in 26 receptions for 362 yards and a team-high four touchdowns. Clark also turned a screen pass into the longest reception of the season, a 78-yarder that put the Wildcats inside the 10-yard line against SFA.
"I'm really excited about the way he's continued to grow and be a leader in the wideout room. There's a craftiness that comes with playing this position, and he's got it. When he has a game plan at the line of scrimmage and something goes wrong, he can fix it immediately. One thing that sticks out to us is his ability to block in the run game." –

Darius Lewis, redshirt freshman | New Orleans
Lewis' 18 receptions were the third-highest for ACU last fall, and he averaged just under 30 yards per catch. He collected his first career touchdown against Angelo State, finding paydirt from 11 yards out early in the second half.
"He has shown immense strides, and we are very excited about the fall that we think he is capable of having. He is very explosive, and his playmaking ability, football IQ and maturity have all increased." –

Dax Neece, redshirt freshman | Albany, Texas
Neece saw action in five games for the purple and white last fall, securing six catches for 65 yards. His targets and yardage both increased in each of the first four games, culminating in a season-high 33 yards against Mercer.
"Dax does everything we need him to do, and he is always in the right spot at the right time. He's consistent, and we know we can rely on him in every situation." –

Taelyn Williams, redshirt junior | Euless, Texas
Williams collected six receptions for 122 yards last fall, doing so in just three games. His longest catch of the year came against UTEP, a pass over the middle that Williams turned into a 49-yarder.
"Taelyn got hurt and didn't get to see much time on the field last year, but he has a high football IQ and can play multiple positions for us. He's versatile, and his vertical speed is very good, so we are excited about what he can do for us."
