FRISCO, Texas – The Southland Conference announced the men's and women's track and field all-academic teams Tuesday, and six total student-athletes represented ACU on the list. Freshman Jack Marshall represented the Wildcats on the men's side, while Ella Antilla, Payton Kir, Irene Rono, Zoe Spinn, and Taylor Tolen represented ACU on the women's list. Abilene Christian's five student-athletes on the women's team ranked second amongst all the teams in the Southland Conference.
Southland Conference Track & Field All-Academic Teams are selected by a 50-percent rule. Of the total number of nominees, half are named all-academic selections. Honorees are nominated and voted upon by head coaches, sports information directors, and academic staff members from each university. Marshall, a management major from Brady, Texas, is a first-time selection.
Spinn and Tolen are both two-time honorees, while Rono, Kirk, and Antilla earned academic honors for the first time. Spinn and Rono are both nursing majors, while Antilla majors in psychology, Kirk majors in engineering, and Tolen majors in kinesiology.
ACU's men's track and field finished the 2020-21 academic year with a 2.96 team GPA, while the women posted a 3.50.
