Softball to honor seniors and graduates in final home series

ABILENE –  The Wildcats will close out the regular season with a three-game home series with the Islanders of A&M-Corpus Christi. After going 2-1 against UIW last weekend, the Wildcats will likely need to win all three games this weekend to secure a place in the Southland Conference tournament. In addition to closing out the season, the team will honor seven seniors for their contributions to the program prior to Saturday's contest. The team will also hold a small graduation recognition postgame for those players who will be unable to walk in the ceremony due to the game.

WILDCATS STORYLINES

  • Samantha Bradley has been an unstoppable force in the circle over the last two weekends. She has collected a 4-0 record giving up just three runs over her last 25 innings and has not walked a batter in that span.
  • Currently sitting in 10th place in the conference standings, a 3-0 weekend as well as an 0-3 weekend from UIW will get the Wildcats into the tournament outright. Should ACU and UIW finish with the same record, ACU should get the eighth seed based on their head-to-head record.
  • The Wildcats have put up dominant Saturday victories in back-to-back weeks earning two run-rule victories.
  • Donelle Johnson leads the Wildcats with a .329 batting average. Shaylee Alani and Calie Burris have totaled 11 and 10 doubles, respectively, which puts them each in the top five in the conference for total doubles.
  • Val Rudd hit her fourth triple of the year against UIW and now sits tied for the most in the Southland on the season.
  • The Wildcats will honor their seniors in a ceremony prior to the game on Saturday and will also honor their graduates the same day with a ceremony and cookout 20-30 minutes after the completion of the game.
