ABILENE—The Wildcats were back in Abilene to begin their three-game series with UIW on Friday afternoon.
Samantha Bradley continued her stellar pitching from last weekend to open the day and the Wildcats added to their homerun total with two bombs in game two.
Game 1
Bradley opened game one hitting the leadoff batter but made the necessary adjustments as she quickly mowed down the Cardinals the first time through the lineup. She totaled seven strikeouts in the game and gave up just five hits on the day. The Wildcats helped Bradley out on offense early with a two-run RBI single from
Kayla Keeling in the bottom of the second, but it was Bradley herself who drove in the third run of the day. Those three runs would be all the Wildcats needed as Bradley earned the complete game shutout.
Game 2
The Cardinals would get on the board early, after being held scoreless in game one, with an RBI single in the top of the first inning. The Wildcats struggled to get going offensively, but
Donelle Johnson was able to send one out of left field that tied the game. UIW quickly answered to retake the lead with a solo shot of their own and added two more runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-1 lead.
Shaylee Alani connected for a homerun in the bottom of the seventh but the Wildcats fell in game two to split the doubleheader.
