THIBODAUX, La.—With a chance to earn their second series win of the season, The Wildcats dominated the Colonels with a 9-1 run rule victory Saturday afternoon.
Samantha Bradley pitched a gem, giving up just four hits and one run, while the Wildcats offense was hot from the start.
Donelle Johnson led the game off with a double and three batters later,
Calie Burris would single to bring her home for the first run of the day. ACU would put up four runs in the second inning beginning with a sacrifice fly from
Val Rudd to bring home
Katelyn Belch.
Shaylee Alani followed with an RBI single before Burris knocked in her second and third RBIs to help the Wildcats to a 5-0 lead. The Colonels would answer with one run in the bottom of the inning but that would be their only score of the day.
In the bottom of the third,
Caroline Adair made a highlight play in center to save an extra-base hit and the Wildcats got out of the inning unscathed. Another four-run inning in the fourth gave the Wildcats a 9-1 advantage and Burris drove in her fourth and fifth RBI on the day. Bradley struck out two in the bottom of the fifth and secured a groundout to earn the win.
