ABILENE—The Wildcats capped their series at McNeese with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader. ACU struggled to find an offensive rhythm on the day. The team totaled 12 hits on the day, including a solo homerun from
Donelle Johnson, but were unable to string enough together to score.
Game 1
Johnson's homerun got the day started as she sent one out of left field in the first at bat of the day. The Wildcats would threaten again in the third, getting runners to second and third with just one out, but a double play ended the inning with ACU still holding a 1-0 lead. McNeese put up three runs in the bottom of the third to take the lead. The Wildcats were able to get runners on in each of the last three innings, but couldn't bring them home.
Game 2
The Cowgirls took an early lead in game two, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Sinnott appeared in relief in the first and retired seven straight going into the fourth inning. ACU started the fourth with two singles but were unable to score. McNeese put up two runs in the bottom of each of the last three innings to take the 8-0 win in game two.
Stat pack
- Johnson went 4-7 on the day with a double and a homerun. The homerun was her second of the season.
- Shaylee Alani went 2-5 on the day while also drawing a walk.
- Sydney Kaiser earned her second start of the season in game two, getting on base via walk in her first plate appearance.
