ABILENE—The Wildcats headed to Lake Charles, La. to begin a three-game series with McNeese on Friday afternoon. While the game was mostly competitive throughout, the Cowgirls used one big inning to break the game open and the Wildcats were unable to get their offense going to counter the blow.
After a scoreless first inning, the Wildcats were able to load the bases with one out in the top of the second but grounded into a double play to end the inning. It was in the bottom of the second that McNeese did their damage. The Cowgirls loaded the bases with no outs and scored their first two runs via walks and put six runs up before the end of the inning. ACU threatened in the fourth and the seventh, getting two hits in each inning, but were unable to bring the baserunners home.
