Wildcats will face the Lady Lions in Hammond

HAMMOND, La. –  The Wildcats are back on the road this weekend for their third conference series of the season. The team is 2-4 in Southland play through the first two weekends of action and will face Southeastern Louisiana (15-12, 5-1) beginning on Friday night.

WILDCATS STORYLINES

  • The Wildcats are hitting .240 as team on the season, led by Calie Burris (.290) and Shaylee Alani (.286). 
  • Burris and Avery Miloch remain atop the Southland with seven homeruns each on the season. Alani is second in the conference with eight doubles on the year. 
  • Donelle Johnson has returned from injury and been a spark at the top of the order for ACU. She is hitting .450 in limited at-bats (9-20), scoring six runs on the season. 
  • This will be the first meeting between the programs since 2018 when the Wildcats earned the 2-1 series win in Hammond.

SCOUTING THE LADY LIONS (15-12, 5-1)

  • SLU opened conference play with a home sweep of Lamar before heading on the road last weekend where they went 2-1 to win the series over Houston Baptist. 
  • The Lady Lions are hitting .279 as a team which is good enough for fifth in the Southland. 
  • Junior, Lindsey Rizzo leads SLU in hitting percentage at .400 for the season. She ranks in the top-10 for the Southland in hitting percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, and hits. 
  • The Lions have hit 9 homeruns on the season, compared to 23 for the Wildcats.
