Wildcats total six extra-base hits in doubleheader

HOUSTON—The Wildcats offense put on a show in their Sunday doubleheader, but Houston would come away with a doubleheader sweep. The team totaled 13 runs over two games and totaled six extra-base hits on the night.

Game 1
ACU was the first to strike in game one as Val Rudd connected for her first career homerun to take a 1-0 lead. The Cougars answered and took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the inning. After a scoreless inning from both teams in the second inning, the Wildcats opened up a 4-run onslaught in the top of the third. With the bases loaded and two outs in the inning, Katelyn Belch drove in two runs with a single to center. Shaylee Alani would use an RBI single to bring in another run before stealing second which allowed Belch to score their fourth run of the inning. Once again, the Cougars answered with four runs of their own and would put up four more in the following inning. Calie Burris cut into the lead with a solo homerun in the fifth and Paige Harris went deep for the first time in her young career in the seventh, but it wouldn't be enough as the Cougars came away with the 10-8 win.
  Game 2
This time it would be the Cougars who opened the game with a dominant offense putting up five runs in the first inning. The Wildcats would put up five runs in the top of the second behind back-to-back doubles and a homerun, but that would be all the offense produced in the game. The Cougars would go on to score eight runs over the next three innings and grab the win in five.
