Wildcats web gems highlight doubleheader

San Marcos, Texas—The Wildcats offense struggled to produce on Monday afternoon and the team dropped both games of the doubleheader in San Marcos. ACU put together some highlight-worthy defensive plays and Calie Burris launched her second homerun of the season, but the Bobcats proved to be a tough out.

Game 1
The Wildcats struggled to get going offensively against the tough pitching of Texas State. The Wildcats were able to get a couple runners on early, but could not find ways to advance them. ACU's defense made some stellar plays, especially in the outfield, but Texas State earned the 6-0 win.

Game 2
ACU got on the board first in the second game of the day on Burris' two-run homer that followed a single from Briana Tijerina. The Bobcats bounced back just one inning later to take a 3-2 lead, and added three more runs late to earn a 6-2 win.

Stat pack
  • With her second homerun of the season, Burris has doubled her career homerun total, just six games into the season.
  • The Wildcats defense was solid and made a number of plays that saved runs or got the team out of tough innings when needed.
  • Freshman, Paige Harris earned her first career hit in a pinch hitter appearance in game two.

Up next
ACU continues on the road to Denton, Texas where they will play a single game at North Texas. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m. and the game will be streamed on CUSATV.
