ABILENE, Texas - Wildcat softball added five incoming freshman for the class of 2022 as part of National Signing Day on Wednesday. This class has an opportunity to come in and make an immediate impact when they get on campus next fall. The class features needed talent that could provide depth and competition across every position for ACU.

Welcome Kennedy Campbell, Erin Gibbs, Emmy Hornick, Mia Mazzola, and Elizabeth Schaefer to the ACU Wildcat family!

Kennedy Campbell | 5-5 | R/R | C/OF | Corona, Calif. / Santiago HS

  • Lettered in softball
  • Member of the CIF Division I champions as a freshman
  • Named all-league in 2021
Kennedy is a big time utility pickup for us. She has experience behind the plate as well as multiple positions on the field. She is a student of the game and isn't afraid hard work. She has already built a love for the weight room which will give her a leg up coming in. She brings a good mix of speed, power and confidence.

Erin is a left handed pitcher coming to us from a great organization out of California. She brings deception and a good variety of movement. Erin's confidence and her ability to keep hitter's off balance is what caught our attention. We will look for Erin to help our pitching staff right away.

Emmy Hornick | 5-8 | L/L | 1B | Fort Worth, Texas / Nolan Catholic HS

Emmy will bring a big bat to our program. She hits for power from the left side and is an established first baseman. Emmy is a great teammate and will bring a lot of energy and enthusiasm to the field. We quickly built a solid relationship with her at several of our camps. She sees the vision for our culture and where we are going as a program.

Mia Mazzola | 5-8 | L/R | INF | Eureka, Mo. / Eureka HS

  • Lettered in softball and lacrosse
  • 1st team All-district softball
  • 2nd team All-conference softball
  • 2nd team All-conference lacrosse
Mia is a true infielder coming to us from a great softball family. She understands the game and can play defense on the left, and right side of the infield. Mia's athleticism was one of the things we noticed first. She is a lefty hitter who has some pop, but can also spread it around the field. We expect Mia to compete for a spot somewhere in the infield next year.

Elizabeth Schaefer | 6-0 | R/R | RHP | Rockwall, Texas / Rockwall HS

  • Lettered in softball, volleyball, and track
  • All-State Softball
  • 1st team All-district softball and volleyball

We are excited to bring Elizabeth into the program. Elizabeth is an extremely competitive kid. She throws hard and has an attackers mindset. Elizabeth is a great fit because of her attitude, energy and team first mentality. We expect her to come in ready to work on day one.
