ABILENE – The ACU cross country teams took part in the UIW Twilight on Saturday, with the Wildcat women winning their second consecutive meet and the men coming in fourth place.

"Our women had a great race. They are making good progress in training & executing races really well. We're looking forward to championship season against tough competition. Overall, the men did ok, but it wasn't our best day. Levi has cemented himself as a consistent leader in workouts and races, and we just need to build our pack around him. We're not in a bad place, but have a lot of work to do," head coach Jarvis Jelen said.
The ACU women claimed four of the top five finishes, with Irene Rono once again picking up an individual first place finish with a time of 16:30.3. Teammates Prudence Kiyeng (17:08.6, second place), Briahna Gerlach (17:13.0, third place) and Tessa Holderman (17:21.5, fifth place) finishing on her heels.
On the men's side, Levi Chambers led the Purple and White with a 8th-place time of 25:23.6. Chambers has been ACU's top finisher in all three meets so far, coming in 16th, 5th and 8th so far this season.
Kevin Kipkosgei (25:51.7) came in 14th place on Saturday, while teammate Gabe Embree (25:59.3) followed in 18th. Maxwel Kiplagat (26:13.0) and Cooper Goggans (26:15.3) rounded out the top five finishers for the Wildcats with 20th and 21st place finishes respectively.
The Wildcats return to the course on Oct. 16, when they head to College Station for the second time this year to participate in the Arturo Barrios Invitational.
