Box Score LAFAYETTE, La. – After much doubt about playing any sports in the fall due to COVID-19, the Wildcat soccer team was back in action for the first time in 10 months Friday night at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility to take on the University of Louisiana of the Sun Belt Conference. UL scored once in each half to take the season opener, 2-0. The game went smoothly up until the 3:45 mark of the second half, when the game was delayed 45 minutes due to lightning.
The Goals
- 17' | Louisiana's Lizze Mayfield took a pass from Skyla Sykes, set herself up, and fired a strike into the top right corner.
- 75' | Julianne DeBlieux scored after receiving an assist from Mayfield to put Louisiana up 2-0.
The Numbers
- Louisiana led 10-6 in shot attempts, and 6-4 in shots on goal.

Erin Smith tallied four saves in net.
- Sophomore
Natalie Jones led the way in shot attempts with two.

"I thought for a first game we played pretty good tonight. There were more mental mistakes than anything. [Louisiana] was a very solid team and handled the ball well and made us work throughout the game. We will have something to build on going into Sunday."
