Osio climbs eight spots during final round at Barnett

ABILENE -- Junior Francisco Osio Tuesday carded a 1-under 71 during the third and final round of the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate to finish at even par (216) and tie for ninth place in a 63-competitor field.

Osio Monday posted rounds of 69 and 76, and his 71 today pushed him up the individual standings from 17th to ninth in leading all six Wildcats.

Abilene Christian placed third as a team of nine schools with rounds of 282-296-296 (10-over par).

Host Arkansas State was the runaway winner at 50-under par 864 with rounds of 269-273-272, and runner-up honors went to Texas State, which finished at 16-uner par 8448 (280-285-283).

Five Arkansas State competitiors placed among the top six, led by medalist Julien Sale's 16-under 200. Texas State's Fabien Sunden finished five strokes behind Sale to break up the Arkansas State sweep of the top-three positions.

ACU had four players finish among the top-20 with Brian Choe tying for 17th (3-over 219), and Alex Clouse and Charlie Jackson tying for 20th at 6-over 222.

The Wildcats are back in Arkansas next Monday and Tuesday for their final fall tournament, the Little Rock Invitational.
