Clouse ties for second place at Little Rock

ABILENE -- Abilene Christian senior Alex Clouse tied for second place in a field of 86 competitors this week at the Little Rock Invitational hosted by the Chenal Country Club. The Flower Mound, Texas native finished under par through all three rounds for a 7-under 209, tying him with UT Arlington's Caleb Hicks.
Clouse and Hicks finished three strokes behind winner Guillaume Fannonel of ULM, whose rounds of 69, 67 and 70 put him at 10-under 206.
Clouse started the invitational with a first round 67 followed by consecutive rounds of 71. He recorded one eagle this week in addition to 16 birdies, which was second only to Fanonnel's 17, and his par 4 scoring was 3.93 (-2) to rank fourth in this category.
As a team, ACU finished sixth of 14 teams at 11-under 853 ahead of both Southland Conference rivals Lamar (T8th) and Central Arkanas (12th). The Wildcats were 11 under 276 in the first round, even 288 in round two and one over 289 Tuesday.
Little Rock won its home event by moving from fifth to first place from Monday to Tuesday thanks to rounds of 285 (-3), 274 (-14) and 270 (-18) in finishing 35 under 829. Arkansas State was the next closest team at 18 under 846 followed by UT Arlington (-16), ULM (-15) and Louisiana (-15).
Brian Choe and Francisco Osio, who were ACU's leaders at the first two tournaments, tied for 18th at one under 215.
The Little Rock Invitational was ACU's third and final tournament of the fall.
On Monday, Nov. 9 the team will play host to the 36th annual Byron Nelson Invitational at the Mira Vista Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. This tournament benefits the Byron and Louise Nelson Golf Endowment at ACU. Contact Head Coach Tom Shaw at tom.shaw@acu.edu for more information.
