Golf team to Arkansas for Bubba Barnett

ABILENE -- Abilene Christian golf returns to action Monday for the Arkansas State Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate, hosted by the RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.. Spectators are allowed to attend the event for free, however, organizers ask spectators stay on the cart path and that social distancing guidelines are met.
This is the Wildcats second tournament of the fall and first of two in Arkansas. ACU returns to the Natural State again next week for the Little Rock Invitational.
ACU started its fall campaign at last month's Jim Rivers Intercollegiate hosted by Louisiana Tech.
The Wildcats placed eighth as a team at 11-over 875 (296, 287, 292), finishing three strokes behind Southland Conference rival Lamar but 20 ahead of Central Arkansas and 51 ahead of Houston Baptist.
The Bears and Huskies also will be part of the 12-team field at Arkansas State.
Junior Brian Choe led the Wildcats at the JRI, finishing tied for seventh place with a 2-under 214. Choe carded a 1-under 71 Sunday, a 2-over 73 Monday and a 2-under 70 Tuesday to tie South Alabama's Kyle Robinson, Texas State's Fabian Sunden, and Little Rock's Anton Albers.
No. 44 UAB won the team title with a 21-under 843 led by medalist Nick Robillard (9-under 207). Four members of the Blazers finished among the top seven.
Choe, Alex Clouse and freshman Charlie Jackson have so far qualified for both of this fall's tournaments. Jake Bay, Francisco Osio and newcomer Joris Spanjer all are making their season debuts.
