Baseball falls 6-1 at Northwestern State

NATCHITOCHES, La. – Demons' first baseman David Fry clubbed two home runs and collected five RBI in leading Northwestern State to a 6-1 victory over Abilene Christian Sunday at Brown-Stroud Field to complete a three-game sweep of the Wildcats.
Fry's 10th home run of the spring – a two-run blast – broke a scoreless tie in the third and he followed with a three-run shot in the fourth inning. The Demons' also received an RBI single from Luke Watson with one out in the third plus a 7.0 inning, six-strikeout quality start from Nathan Jones.
Jones' bid for a shutout was broke with one out in the seventh when Derek Scott Scored on Koby Claborn's one out RBI single to left field. The next two Wildcats reached to load the bases, but Jones got pinch hitter Riley Donahue to ground into an inning-ending double play.
Danny Hlad then tossed a scoreless eighth inning and Jose Vasquez retired the side in order in the ninth.
Colton Brasher started for ACU and lasted 3.0 innings, during which he gave up three runs on seven hits. Logan Patterson surrendered Fry's home run in the fourth and Scott finished the game with three scoreless innings, surrendering just one single.
The Wildcats' conclude their regular season this week with a Tuesday night game at UTSA followed by a Thursday-Friday-Saturday homestand vs. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Thursday night's Senior Night is powered by McGavok Nissan. Friday's 6 p.m. contest features $1 hot dogs and $2 sodas, while Baseball Bingo will be played Saturday at noon.
