ABILENE – The Easter holiday weekend is a bit abbreviated for Abilene Christian women's tennis, which will play host to Southland Conference rivals Northwestern State and Stephen F. Austin Friday and Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Eager Tennis Center.
Both matches are scheduled to be played outdoors, however, the conditions for both sides will be challenging. Friday's first serve temperature is predicted to be 56 degrees, while Saturday's wind is expected to reach upward of 20 miles per hour coming out of the southwest.
The Wildcats (10-7, 4-3 Southland) swept last weekend's conference road matches at New Orleans (W, 4-3) and Southeastern Louisiana (W, 6-1), and need to keep winning to ensure one of the eight berths at the Southland Conference Championship. The visiting Lady Demons currently occupy the top spot in the conference at 7-0, while the Ladyjacks are in last place at 1-6 with their lone victory coming against the Privateers.
ACU lost 4-3 last season at Northwestern State and blanked SFA, 7-0, to finish tied for second in the conference standings at 8-3.
