Null's 10-strikeout performance not enough in 2-1 loss

ABILENE – ACU pitcher Hannah Null struck out 10 batters Saturday afternoon, but her effort wasn't enough as the Wildcat offense was stifled once again by Houston Baptist pitching as the Lady Huskies beat ACU, 2-1, to win their Southland Conference at Wells Field.
Null – who recorded the 500th strikeout of her career in the first game of the series Friday evening – now has 523 career strikeouts. However, ACU's offense had just seven hits and left eight runners on base in the game.
ACU trailed 2-0 going to the bottom of the seventh inning before getting a rally started when pinch-hitter Callie Burris led off with a walk and went to third two batters later when Donelle Johnson doubled to center field. Pinch-runner Briaana Tijerina scored on a sacrifice fly by Braegan Hamilton to cut the HBU lead to 2-1. However, the rally ended when Holly Neese flew out to center field to end the game.
The Wildcats dropped to 10-16 on the season and 4-5 Southland Conference, while the Huskies are 5-17, 2-7 SLC.
