WBB takes road win streak to Tulsa Wednesday

ABILENE – Fresh off a 3-0 week that included a 12-point win at 19th-ranked mid-major New Mexico State and back-to-back wins over Texas Southern (81-39) and UTEP (70-69), Abilene Christian women's basketball will hop back on the bus for a Wednesday night game at Tulsa. Tip off vs. the Golden Hurricane is set for 7 p.m.

Fans who can't make it to Tulsa can watch the game online and follow real-time stats or listen to Zach Carlyle's play-by-play on 98.1 FM – The Ticket.

The Wildcats' 6-0 start is their best under head coach Julie Goodenough, and a win over Tulsa (3-3) would give the team its first 7-0 start since the 2006-07 season. The Golden Hurricane, however, will be tough to beat in the Reynolds Center and hungry for redemption as they're coming off a 76-34 loss Saturday at Stephen F. Austin.

Tulsa's two additional losses were against quality mid-major programs from American (68-52) and Belmont (78-53), while its three wins were vs. Stetson (55-54), neighboring Oral Roberts (76-68) and Saint Louis (86-75 OT). The Eagles ranked 26th in last week's mid-major poll and the Bruins were 10th. It's possible the Wildcats may enter this poll for the first time in two seasons after knocking off back-to-back postseason qualifiers from New Mexico State and Texas Southern.

ACU's win streak has the Wildcats ranked 30th in Monday's RPI, and they're also ranked among the top-ten NCAA schools in several statistical categories, including rebound margin (+15), scoring defense (48.3 ppg), scoring margin (+30.8), 3-point field goal defense (.180). They also sit just outside the top ten with 19.5 assists per game as junior guard Breanna Wright ranks first among all Southland Conference players with 32 assists (5.3 apg).

Tulsa is led by Crystal Polk, who is averaging 13.5 points (.517 FG %) and 6.7 rebounds per game.

The Golden Hurricane defeated the Wildcats 81-61 in their only previous game, which took place early in the 2013-14 season. Tulsa went on to finish that season with a 14-16 mark, and since then they've posted annual records of 18-14 (2014-15), 12-19 (2015-16) and consecutive 10-21 campaigns.
