LAS CRUCES, N.M. – Junior
Garrett Glanton led the ACU golf team to a sixth-place finish at the Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate to wrap up the fall portion of its schedule.

The Wildcats carded rounds of 292-292-290 (874) to finish in front of Western Illinois (289-298-291) and Southland foe Incarnate Word (304-291-287). Grand Canyon finished 20-under-par claiming first place with scores of 282-280-270 (832) and host New Mexico State took second going 4-under-par (279-282-287). Texas El Paso rounded out the top three going 2-under-par with scores of 290-284-276.

"We were really flummoxed on the greens this week," head coach
Tom Shaw said. "We never got a good handle on them and I'm disappointed in how we putted overall. We left a ton of shots out there and didn't maximize anything. We had some great individual performances like,
Garrett Glanton who continues to get better each week."

Glanton played three solid rounds of golf to record his first top-10 finish of the season. He ended the 54-hole tournament tied for seventh with scores of 71-70-72 (even-par 213). Freshman
Alex Clouse finished second for the Wildcats and tied for 23
rd overall going 5-over-par 220.
Bryce Dooley went 73-74-73 (220), 7-over-par to finish tied for 33
rd. Â

Kade Miller and
Clarke Hudgins rounded out the scoring five for the Wildcats finishing tied for 61
st and tied for 64
th, respectively. Miller carded rounds of 80-72-75 (227) and Hudgins went 16-over-par, 229.

Freshman
Chase Allison competed as an individual in his first outing as a Wildcat, finishing at 11-over-par 224 to tie for 46
th.

"We could never string it together as a team to really be competitive this week. Tournaments are always great learning experiences and we'll rebound and have a terrific offseason. The 2018 spring will be a great semester for us," Shaw said.

The Wildcats sit idle in tournament play until returning in February at the Mobile Sports Authority Intercollegiate to start the spring season.Â
