HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Abilene Christian women's tennis continued its frenetic four matches in four days Southland Conference road trip Saturday with an all-too-close 4-3 win vs. Sam Houston State at the McAdams Center.

The victory was ACU's fifth-straight and kept them near the top of the league standings at 6-1 (16-5 overall), while the Bearkats slipped to 7-11 and 2-7.

The Wildcats won their sixth-consecutive doubles point but started singles in a 0-2 hole after No. 1 Erin Walker and No. 2 Kaysie Hermsdorf lost in straight sets. Walker fell 6-2, 6-3 to Fabienne Gettwart and Carrie Casey edged Hermsdorf, 7-5, 6-3.

Senior Nada Marjanovic brought ACU right back into the match with her 6-4, 6-1 triumph at No. 4 over Khee Yen Wee in improving to 18-4, and then sophomores Lucile Pothier and Whitney Williams dominated their third sets at No. 3 and 5.

Williams recorded ACU's go-ahead point with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-3 over Mila Milanovic to push her individual winning streak to eight games. Pothier followed with the match-clinching point, rallying from a set down to beat Ema Barkovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 for her 11th straight singles victory.

Pothier and Williams are both 7-0 vs. Southland Conference opposition.

In doubles, Walker and Williams suffered a tough 6-1 loss at the top line vs. Gettwart and Milanovic; however, the Bearkats' No. 2 and 3 teams were no match for the Wildcats.

Hermsdorf and Pothier remained undefeated vs. the league with a 6-2 win at No. 2 over Casey and Yen Wee, and at No. 3, Marjanovic and sophomore Andrea Crook improved to 12-5 overall with their 6-1 victory against Caitlyn Mitchell and Maddie Mortimore.

The Wildcats continue their busy weekend schedule Sunday with a 12 p.m. doubleheader with the men at Lamar. ACU has defeated the Cardinals the previous two seasons by scores of 4-3 and 5-2.
