ABILENE – Abilene Christian volleyball reaches the conclusion of its near month-long tournament season this weekend with a trip to Colorado for the Denver Invitational, where it will face teams from Montana and Illinois-Chicago in addition to the host Pioneers.

All matches from the 2,500-seat Hamilton Gymnasium will have live stats.

ACU (0-10) is playing all three of these schools for the first time in program history and begins its slate of matches Friday at 5 p.m. vs. the Montana Grizzlies. Saturday the Wildcats will play a day/night doubleheader vs. UIC (11 a.m.) and Denver (8:30 p.m.). All times are central.

The Wildcats competed last weekend at the North Texas Invitational in Denton and suffered consecutive losses to Houston (3-1), Boise State (3-0) and the Mean Green (3-2).

Denver is 8-3 on the season after a 2-2 weekend in the Borderland Classic, which took place in El Paso, Texas and Las Cruces, N.M.

Sarah Schmid, who ranks eighth in the NCAA for total blocks with 56 and is hitting .433 on the season, leads the Pioneers, while Kayla Principato and Moni Corrujedo have each recorded more than 100 kills this season.

UIC enters this weekend at 5-5 following tournaments hosted by IPFW and Butler in addition to going 3-0 at its own tournament, where the Flames defeated sides from Central Connecticut, Morgan State and Chicago State.

Montana is in the midst of a seven-match losing streak that has dropped its season mark to 2-7. The Grizzlies started their year with a 2-1 record at Air Force, but were swept up by the competition at Gonzaga and Temple.
