The ACU women are 7-0 at home this season and 10-6 overall following this weekend's conference wins over Sam Houston State and Lamar. The Wildcats shutout the Bearkats Saturday, 7-0, before humbling the Cardinal Sunday morning, 5-2.
ACU is a combined 64-44 (.593) in singles play and has five competitors with 10 or more victories: junior
Nada Marjanovic (12), freshman
Lucile Pothier (11), sophomore
Erin Walker (11) and freshman
Kaysie Hermsdorf (10). On the doubles court, meanwhile, the Wildcats own a .717 winning percentage (43-17) led by the No. 1 duo of Hermsdorf and senior
Brittney Reed who are 16-2 overall and 6-1 together against the Southland Conference.
Only once this season has ACU lost the doubles point in conference play.
ACU's men's team enters its match with the Islanders at 9-15 overall and 1-3 vs. the Southland after splitting Sunday's doubleheader with Lamar and UT-Permian Basin, in which the Wildcats followed a 6-1 loss to the Cardinals with a 6-1 win over the Falcons.
The men's lone double winner from Sunday was sophomore
Nico Agritelley, who defeated Lamar's Jeandre Hoogenboezem at No. 3 in comeback fashion, 3-6, 6-2, 10-4, before toppling the Falcons' Thomas Rice at No. 2, 6-1, 6-0.
The two singles victories pushed Agritelley's winning streak to five and give him an overall record of 17-7 and 5-0 mark at No. 2. He also is undefeated against the Southland Conference in singles play and is 8-2 over his last 10 matches.
Agritelley has a 12-11 doubles record between partners
Guilherme Gesser (9-9 at No. 1) and
Henry Adams (3-2 at No. 2 and 3). Adams, however, owns the best overall doubles record on the Wildcats at 13-7, having played alongside
Marco Bensley,
Jason Proctor and Agritelley.
The Islander men are the only undefeated Southland team in the six-team league at 3-0, but are 4-6 away from Corpus Christi.
