ABILENE - Abilene Christian golf will compete at its second tournament of the week beginning Friday morning as one of 11 teams invited to compete at Pinehurst No. 8 for the annual Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
The Wildcats will play one round per day, Friday to Sunday, on the Tom Fazio-designed course that was created in 1996 to celebrate Pinehurst's first 100 years and has since played host to two PGA Club Pro Championships. Par for this week's tournament is 71 with the yardage at 6,980.
Competing against the ACU roster of Corbin Renner, Dillon Vaughn, Kaden Walters, Brandon Wilkins and Robert Johnson will be teams from Belmont, Bradley, California (Pa.), Dayton, Loyola-Chicago, Marshall, Morehead State, Western Illinois, William & Mary, and Wisconsin Lutheran.
Earlier this week ACU tied for 15th-place (51-over 903) at the Bash at the Beach hosted by Appalachian State at The Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Renner carded a 3-over 216 to lead the Wildcats and finish in a tie for 22nd place.
