ABILENE, Texas – ACU director of athletics Lee DeLeón announced Thursday that the athletics department has entered into an exclusive partnership with Peak Sports Management (Peak Sports MGMT) to sell corporate sponsorships, expand its market presence and provide additional staffing.
Peak Sports MGMT will be seeking sponsorships for each of the 16 sports and the facilities they compete in, including the new track and field / soccer stadium and the new on-campus football stadium.
"We are thrilled to bring our services to ACU," said Ryan Holloway, president of Peak Sports MGMT. "Since ACU moved to NCAA Division I affiliation and the Southland Conference, we have had our eyes on the Wildcats. To put it plain and simple: this is a university that has done things the right way.
"The story at ACU is a great one to tell and we are excited about everything that is going on at this university," Holloway said. "This includes student-athlete success on and off the playing field, building and enhancing facilities, and student-athletes changing the world beyond the ACU campus. We are ecstatic to be working at a premier university in the Southland Conference and one of the top up-and-coming FCS athletics programs in the country. We are excited to join the hard-working staff and coaches, the talented student-athletes and the successful teams here at ACU."
The agreement between ACU and Peak Sports MGMT is for 4 ½ years with additional renewal options that could make the partnership up to eight years in length. The agreement provides ACU athletics with a significant financial guarantee in each year with a revenue sharing amount that is distributed once thresholds are met. Multimillion-dollar revenues are expected over the life of the contract.
Peak Sports MGMT will place two full-time staff members on the ACU campus that will fully integrate themselves with the university, athletics department and most importantly, the community of Abilene. Randy Carter, a former basketball student-athlete, will head up sponsorship sales for the Wildcats as the General Manager of Sales.
"We are certainly excited about the partnership with Peak Sports MGMT and the potential that we see for ACU athletics in that relationship," DeLeón said. "I've known Ryan for a long time, and I know the kind of work they do, and that's why I'm so anxious to get this partnership off the ground. I believe we have a great product to sell to businesses not only in Abilene, but also on a regional and national level, and Peak Sports MGMT is the team that will help us get in front of those businesses."
