Abilene Christian's Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark will serve as the home stadium of the Abilene Flying Bison for the 2026 season, as announced during a press conference Tuesday morning.
The Flying Bison, a summer collegiate team entering its third season of play, competed in the Mid-America League in 2024 and 2025, and announced a move to the Texas Collegiate League last October.
"We are excited to be making the move to Crutcher Scott Field at Bullock Brothers Ballpark for the 2026 season," Abilene Flying Bison president and general manager John Stark said in a statement. "This move is a culmination of a lot of hard work and we appreciate the leadership of ACU Athletics in partnering with us to make the second chapter of Flying Bison baseball even greater than the first."
ACU last hosted an outside team when another summer squad, the Abilene Prairie Dogs, called 'The Crutch' home from 1995-99. As part of that process, the stadium underwent a $600,000 expansion and grew to a seating capacity of 4,000
The Flying Bison won the Mid-America League regular season title in 2024, and reached the championship game each of the past two years.
The club has also made it a point to include local players as a combined 11 Abilene-natives have appeared on their roster.
Three ACU Wildcats have played for the Flying Bison with pitcher Tanner Riley suiting up in 2024, and utility player Matthew Millett and pitcher Stetson Callaway spending the 2025 season with the team.
Cam Vega, who was the inaugural manager of the Flying Bison, recently joined the Miami Marlins organization as the assistant hitting coach/catching coach of their Double-A affiliate, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
Vega was named the MAL Manager of the Year after leading the Flying Bison to a 46-22 record in 2024.
The other Flying Bison alum in the minor leagues, pitcher Braydon Risley, was drafted in the 19th round of the 2025 MLB Draft by the San Francisco Giants.
After pitching in the Arizona Complex League following being drafted, Risley was named to the Opening Day roster of the San Jose Giants, San Francisco's Single-A affiliate.
The Flying Bison played its first two seasons at McMurry's Walt Driggers Field.
Their new campaign begins June 2 at the Lake Charles (La.) Gumbeaux Gators. The first home game at Bullock Brothers Ballpark is June 4 against the San Antonio River Monsters.
The Texas Collegiate League includes eight teams -- three from Louisiana (Lake Charles, the Acadiana Cane Cutters (Lafayette, La.), and the Baton Rouge Rougarou), and five from Texas (Abilene, San Antonio, the Brazos Valley Bombers (Bryan-College Station), the Victoria Generals, and the Sherman ShadowCats).
