Live stats vs. Incarnate Word
ABILENE - Abilene Christian volleyball returns to Moody Coliseum Saturday vs. Incarnate Word at 2 p.m. for the start of the Wildcats' season-ending five-match homestand.
Live stats will be made available for this contest involving the two Southland Conference upstarts.
The Wildcats (4-21, 2-9 Southland) are at home for the first time in two weeks as they're coming off a 2-2 Louisiana roadtrip that featured consecutive league wins over New Orleans (W, 3-0) and Southeastern Louisiana (w, 3-1) as well as a 3-1 defeat to the Sun Belt's UL-Lafayette and 3-2 loss Tuesday at Nicholls. ACU's five-set loss vs. the Colonels was their fifth in league play this year.
The Wildcats employed their two-setter system of junior Sarah Siemens (3.50 assists per ser) and sophomore Tucker Smith (4.62) during the trip's duration and came away with 11.31 kills per set and .169 attacking percentage. ACU also ripped 24 aces, and defensively, dug out 236 attacks and blocked 32 shots.
Junior Jennifer Loerch, who ranks fifth among all Southland players with 3.73 kills per set, led the Wildcats in scoring over the four matches with 56.5 points. She averaged 3.47 kills with two aces and five block assists.
Senior Neely Borger recorded the most blocks with 14, while sophomore Lexi Mercier had 12, including two solo to keep her ranked among the top-10 Southland leaders with 1.01 per set.
Incarnate Word (7-17, 3-8 Southland) held off the Wildcats in five at the McDermott Center in late September for their first conference win, but then lost four straight before handing McNeese a 31- loss in Lake Charles. The Cardinals encountered another significant losing streak immediately afterward, falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Houston Baptist and Southeastern before upending the Privateers - the Southland's last place team - 3-1 last Saturday.
The Cardinals are led offensively and on the block by Angelique Vidaurri, who is hitting .214 this fall with 3.10 kills per set and 61 blocks (nine solo). She receives help at the net by Bryaunea Hall, who is averaging 0.79 blocks per set.
As a team, UIW is hitting .156 as Vidaurri is its lone player with an attack percentage better than .200.
