ABILENE - Abilene Christian soccer is on the road this weekend for the final time in 2014 where they will take on its Southland Conference rivals from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Incarnate Word.

ACU (7-7-1, 4-2-1 Southland) is 2-5-1 away from Abilene this season and 1-1-1 in league matches.

The Wildcats first will battle the Islanders Friday at 7 p.m. followed by a Sunday 1 p.m. match against the Cardinals, against whom they are 4-3-1 in an all-time series that dates back to 2008. ACU has won three of its last four meetings against UIW, including last season's 3-1 triumph at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.

The Wildcats also defeated A&M-Corpus Christi in the first meeting between schools, 2-1, on an Emily Sumrall game-winner in the 59th minute that followed a 73-minute weather delay. Sumrall also scored against the Cardinals last season and assisted on the game's first goal vs. the Islanders.

Each of this weekend's matches will offer live stats and video stream.

ACU last Friday posted its second straight shutout in as many years vs. Northwestern State, beating the Lady Demons, 3-0, but then lost Sunday to first-place Stephen F. Austin, 1-0, on a Zuri Prince Goal in the 82nd minute.

In their win over Northwestern State, the Wildcats received a pair of assists from sophomore Alyssa Gerner on goals scored by Megan Baer and Leslie Snider. Kate Seay then made it a 3-0 match early in the second half, finishing her shot that first hit off the post.

ACU goalkeeper Kelsey Dombrowski has been responsible for both shutouts vs. the Lady Demons and her 135 scoreless minutes last weekend lowered her goals-against average to 1.04, which is tied for third in the Southland Conference. She also ranks third with an .848 save percentage and is tied for ninth with 45 saves.

The Ladyjacks' victory strengthened their hold on first place in the Southland as they begin this weekend at 6-0 with 18 points. ACU is in second with 13 points followed by Southeastern Louisiana and Sam Houston State with 12.

Corpus Christi is further down the standings at 2-3-1 but recently hammered Lamar 4-0 at home. The Islanders also shutout Central Arkansas this season and tied the Cardinals at 1-1.

Incarnate Word is having a tough season in terms of wins and losses and enters this weekend at 1-11-1 with its only win coming two weeks ago at UCA. Since then, however, the Cardinals have tied the Islanders and lost 5-0 to Houston Baptist.
