Longhorns drop Wildcats below .500 with 7-0 win

AUSTIN – The ACU Wildcats dropped below .500 on the season Saturday afternoon as the nation's 14th-ranked NCAA Division II  team ran into a buzzsaw in a 7-0 loss to No. 17 Texas at the Penick Allison Tennis Center.

The Wildcats are now 10-11 on the season, while the Longhorns improve to 11-5 overall and 6-1 at home.  UT is 3-0 all-time against the Wildcats, and has never lost a point (23-0) in those three matches.

The two closes matches of the day for the Wildcats were at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles where Ben Chen and Daniel Whitehead knocked off ACU's Hans Hach and Guilherme Gesser, 8-4, at No. 1 doubles, and Andrew Korinek and Alex Hilliard beat Borja Cortes and Jason Proctor, 8-4, at No. 2 doubles.

ACU is back in action Sunday in San Antonio with a 9 a.m. match against St. Mary's, followed by a 2:30 p.m. match against Texas-San Antonio.
