No. 14 Wildcats Blanked By No. 1 Armstrong Atlantic at Las Vegas Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Abilene Christian's 14th-ranked men's tennis team suffered its first shutout loss of the season to a NCAA Division-II school, falling 9-0 to top-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State Thursday at the Darling Tennis Center.

Armed with four of the top-25 players in the nation, the defending national champions won all their singles contests in straight sets and two of three doubles matches by a score of 8-1. Meanwhile, ACU's No. 1 doubles team of Hans Hach and Guilherme Gesser was defeated 8-4 by Armstrong's nationally ninth-ranked team of Pedro Scocuglia and Sven Lalic, 8-4.

In singles, second-ranked Hach lost to the nation's No. 1 competitor Georgi Rumenov, 6-2, 6-3. Rumenov also defeated Hach last fall in the finals of the USTA/ITA National Small College Championships.

The Wildcats return to action next Sunday, March 17 for a neutral-site match in Arlington, Texas vs. Columbia.
