SAN ANTONIO - Four Abilene Christian players finished among the top 10 Tuesday at the 2013 James S. Litz Memorial, leading the Wildcats to a 16-stroke win over Midwestern State and five other schools here at The Club at Sonterra.
Sophomore and defending Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year Corbin Renner led the Wildcats over the two-day, three-round tournament with a 7-over-par 223, which tied him for fourth place with MSU's Santiago Gomez.
Renner began his final round in fifth place, but was able to climb one spot after shooting a 3-over 75.
Renner has been ACU's top player at its previous two tournaments, including the 2012 Bruce Williams Invitational held last fall in San Antonio. Renner finished first that week at the Dominion Country Club with a 12-under 204.
Senior all-America Alex Carpenter and junior Trey Sullivan began their day tied for first place at 2-over 146, but each of them today shot eight-over 80 to fall into a tie for sixth place (10-over 226).
Senior Ian Evans, meanwhile, came in eighth with a 12-over 228.
Austin Jordan of tournament host Incarnate Word won the individual title after capturing a tiebreaker over Midwestern State's Derek Oland. Each player fired a three-round score of 5-over 221.
Oland began his final round tied with Carpenter and Sullivan, while Jordan began his two strokes back at 4-over 148. Jordan today recorded the lowest third-round score of 1-over 73.
