Eighteen Wildcats honored by USTFCCCA as all-region performers

ACU standout Chloe Susset was one of 18 Wildcats named all-region on Tuesday by the USTFCCCA.

ABILENE – Eighteen ACU track and field athletes have been selected to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) all-South Central Region teams for the 2012 season.

Nine ACU male athletes and nine ACU female athletes were selected to the teams, which were announced Tuesday afternoon.  All nine ACU men and eight of the nine ACU women selected to the all-region teams will be participating in the NCAA Division II outdoor championship meet next week in Pueblo, Colo.

For the men, Jordan Geary – who was named the winner of the Cap Shelton Award as the top male track athlete at the Lone Star Conference championship meet last weekend in Commerce – earned the most all-region citations with four as he was honored as an all-region performer in the 200 meters, 400 meters and on both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Dennis Bain was honored as an all-region performer in three events (110 hurdles and on both relays).

On the women's side, Shennae Steele earned all-region honors in four events: 100 meters, 200 meters and on both relays.  Lexus Williams earned all-region notice in three events: 100 hurdles and on both relays.

Ayesha Rumble – 800 meters, 4x400 relay
Chloe Susset – 1500 meters, 3000 meter steeplechase
Karl Hope – 4x400 relay
Amanda Ouedraogo – Triple jump
Karolyn Palmer – 4x100 relay
Sydney Smith – 4x100 relay
Alexis Wilder – Hammer Throw

MEN
Jordan Geary – 200 meters, 400 meters, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay
Dennis Bain – 110 hurdles, 4x100 relay, 4x400 relay
Banjo Jaiyesimi – 800 meters, 4x400 relay
Levance Williams – Long jump, Triple jump, 4x100 relay
Nick Jones – Discus, Shot Put
Osei Allyene-Forte – 4x400 relay
