SAN ANTONIO - Abilene Christian's Peyton Mosley and Shelby Hall combined to surrender just five hits - all singles - leading the Wildcats to a 4-0 win over Texas A&M-International Friday afternoon at the SAISD Sports Complex.
Mosley started and struck out one in a single inning of work, and then Hall (1-0) took over, allowing just three base runners over the final six frames.
The Dustdevils briefly threatened in the sixth by putting two on with one out, but Hall was able to induce Alexis Gonzalez into a 5-3 double play.
On offense, ACU manufactured single runs in the first and fifth before scoring twice in the seventh. Newcomer Keanna Winkfield led all players with four hits, including an RBI double in the fifth that scored Madison Buckley.
Buckley also scored a run in the first, coming home on a sacrifice fly to left delivered by cleanup hitter Kimberley Briggs.
The Wildcats strung together four straight hits in plating their two seventh inning runs. Lyndi Smith started the mini-rally with a one-out double followed by consecutive hits back to the mound and a single to left by Sara Vaughn.
ACU (2-1) plays again later today vs. Rollins at 4 p.m.
