Wildcats Improve To 5-0 With 6-1 Win At McNeese State

ABILENE - The sixth-ranked Abilene Christian women's tennis team continued its winning ways Saturday in Lake Charles, La., beating NCAA DI opponent McNeese State of the Southland Conference, 6-1, at the Nancy Hank Tennis Complex.

The win raised ACU's season mark to 5-0 heading into Sunday morning's dual at Lamar. The Cowgirls remain winless at 0-5.

McNeese State earned the doubles point on the strength of matching 8-4 scores at the No. 2 and 3 positions, but failed to win anything in singles.

Third-ranked Julia Mongin and 33rd-ranked Brittney Reed both mounted three-set comebacks at the No. 1 and 3 positions. Mongin dropped her first set to Tea Tyrtkovic, 4-6, before rallying to capture the next two sets, 6-3, 6-0. Reed, meanwhile, won her last two sets, 6-1 and 6-3, after losing the first set to Anastasia Surkova, 2-6.

No. 13 Micah Hermsdorf, Laura Mongin, Emily Conrad, and Felicity Delgado all won in straight sets to remain undefeated in singles competition. Conrad, Hermsdorf and Reed lead ACU with five wins each.
