#8 Wildcats Post Fifth Shutout

CANYON, Texas - The No. 8 Abilene Christian women's soccer team recorded its third-straight shutout and fifth of the season Sunday afternoon following a 2-0 victory at West Texas A&M. The Wildcats have not surrendered a goal since the second half of their 1-1 tie with Incarnate Word on Sept. 16, a span of 303 minutes and 10 seconds.

Senior goalkeeper Elliott London received full credit for the shutout, her second of the weekend, and was only forced to make two saves on four shots faced. Her season goals-against average remains a perfect 0.00 through eight starts and 460 minutes. London's also benefited from playing behind a defensive line that's averaging 8.4 shots allowed.

By comparison, ACU's offense is averaging 19.2 shots per match despite being held to eight. But two more goals rattled the net Sunday that lifted the Wildcats' season total to 21, and their multi-goal effort was their seventh in eight games.

Ashley Holton struck first for ACU in the 26th minute for her third goal of the year. Then, with West Texas A&M starting to heat up offensively in the second half, Ashley Craig cooled off the Lady Buffs with a long-distance strike in the 84th minute. Craig's first goal of the year made her the 10th different Wildcat to score this season. 

Assists were provided by Whitley Lindholm and Andrea Carpenter, respectively.

Lady Buff goalkeeper Yvette Bedoy made four saves in the losing effort as West Texas A&M fell to 5-4 (2-3 Lone Star Conference).

ACU's 7-0-1 start is the best in program history and represents its longest consecutive match unbeaten streak since winning seven straight from Oct. 1 to Oct. 29, 2010. Following a 1-0 loss to Texas A&M-Commerce, ACU finished the year at 4-0-1, which runs its current unbeaten streak to 13 matches. 

The Wildcats return home Friday for a 4 p.m. match vs. Texas Woman's University.
