Buffs Race Past Wildcats 77-65

ABILENE – The ACU men's basketball team dropped their eighth game in Lone Star Conference South Division play as they fell 77-65 to West Texas A&M on Wednesday night inside Moody Coliseum.
The Wildcats trailed by as many as 20 late in the first half, but was able to cut the lead to single digits just before the five minute mark of the game. Preston Davis sank two free throws and hit a jumper to pull ACU within seven at 66-59 with 4:58 left to play.
However ACU was out rebounded 32-19 and could never find their stroke as the Buffs shot a lights out from the field. WT also got 40 points from their bench as they cruised to improve to 5-4 in the LSC and 18-4 while ACU fell to 9-11 and 1-8 in conference play.
West Texas A&M had six players score in double figures led by Courtney Carr with 15 points and five rebounds. The Buffs failed to hit a three pointer finishing 0-for-6, but it was their inside presence as one of the top defensive teams in the LSC locked down the Wildcats on Wednesday night.
ACU only managed seven offensive rebounds as the Buffs pulled in 23 defensive boards limiting the Wildcats all night to one shot per possession. 
Zach Williams led the Wildcats with 14 points on 6-of-11 shooting.
The Wildcats continue LSC South play on Saturday as they travel to Texas A&M-Kingsville for a 4 p.m. tip from the G.H. Steinke Center.
