ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The ACU women's tennis team finished their first doubleheader of the 2011 spring season with a split as they fell to New Mexico, 5-2 but knocked off Western New Mexico 7-0 Saturday at the Linda Estes Tennis Complex.
ACU picked up two win in singles as Hannah Kelly got her first win of the season at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3. Freshman Micah Hermsdorf won in the five spot knocking off Michaela Oldani.
The Wildcats lone win on the doubles side came from No. 3 Hermsdorf and Lauren White in an 8-1 win. Both top two doubles were close, however ACU came up short losing both matches 8-5.
Senior Jacklyn Walker gave her No. 2 singles opponent Nikolina Grbac all she could handle before finally falling 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.
In the nightcap ACU had a much more dominating performance winning 7-0.
