ACU Splits 1st Day of Shootout

DURANT, Okla. – The Wildcats split their opening games Friday at the South Central Region Shootout in Durant, Oklahoma. ACU picked up a, 5-4, win over Washburn before falling to Henderson State, 8-6 at the Durant Multi-Sports Complex.
The Wildcats struggled leaving 15 runners on base against the Lady Blues, and 10 runners on base against Henderson State. Ashley Nolan was solid for ACU going 2 for 3 against Washburn and 3 for 5 in the nightcap against HSU.
In the nightcap ACU held a one run lead before the Reddies scored five runs on three hits in the fifth to take a, 7-3, lead. The Wildcats would respond with three runs in the bottom half of the inning to pull within, 7-6, but would leave the bases loaded failing to score with no outs in the sixth.
Freshman Peyton Mosely got the loss in the first game as she went the distance allowing nine hits.
Brittany Rexroat went four innings before giving way to Shelby Hall who picked up the win against WU.
Erin Gilliland would reach on a walk to lead off the seventh as Nolan would reach on error giving ACU two base runners with no one out. Sarah Martinez would drive both runners in on a single giving the Wildcats a one run lead and the win, 5-4.
Hall would close out the bottom of the seventh in order for her second win of the season.
The Wildcats return to action on Saturday with the two early games at 10 a.m. against Southern Arkansas and then at noon against Nebraska-Omaha.
