ABILENE – The ACU women's tennis team entered the weekend ranked No. 7 in the country by the Campbell's/ITA rankings. The Wildcats did nothing but impress as they went 4-0 over the weekend including a win against No. 25 Incarnate Word and a win over the NJCAA National Champions Lee College.
Friday ACU won a pair of beating Lee College, 7-2 and swept their match New Mexico Military Institute, 6-0.
The Wildcats got big wins from Jaclyn Walker at No. 1 who defeated one of the top players in the junior college rankings 6-7, 7-5, 10-7. Walker and Dina Pavlin also teamed for a No. 1 doubles win 8-3.
On Saturday ACU defeated 25th ranked Incarnate Word in dominating fashion, 9-0. Walker again got wins in No. 1 singles and doubles. Sophomore Cassie Carver got a win in the nightcap against Southeastern Oklahoma at No. 1 singles, as ACU defeated the Savage Storm 6-0.
The Wildcats will hit the road on Wednesday for an LSC contest with Tarleton State before a weekend match with Division I opponent SMU.
