Wildcats Roll Over Tigers 92-64

ABILENE – The ACU women jumped out to a hot start and never looked back as they rolled to a 92-64 win over East Central at Moody Coliseum in Lone Star Conference Crossover action on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats shot blistering75 percent from the field in the first half as they took a 59-33 lead into the locker room. The 28 point was the biggest for the Wildcats over a LSC opponent since a 33 point win over Southeastern Oklahoma January 6, 2005. ACU also improves to 3-6 on the season while ECU falls to 4-5.
Kelsey Smith led all scorers as she finished with 22 points and 13 rebounds on her way to her second consecutive double-double and fourth of the season. The sophomore post was 9 of 11 with all of her points coming around the paint for the Wildcats.
Freshman Mack Lankford added 20 points for the Wildcats as her first points came on a long three with 13 minutes left in the first half. Lankford would score the next seven points for ACU pushing the Wildcats to a 12 point lead over the Tigers.
ACU led by as many as 28 before taking a 26 point advantage into the break leading 59-33. The Wildcats scored 24 points in the paint while limiting ECU to only four points and 11 of 30 shooting in the first half.
The lead proved insurmountable as both squads cooled off in the second half shooting under 40 percent from the field. ECU would pull only as close as 19 while ACU led by as many as 31 before the final horn sounded.
Casi Rawls led ECU with 16 points.
ACU returns to action for the final time before the holiday break on Monday against Southeastern Oklahoma. The Wildcats upcoming trip to Puerto Rico has been cancelled leaving ACU without a game until January 6 at Southwestern Oklahoma. Tipoff on Monday is set for 5:30 p.m. against the Lady Bulldogs.
