ACU Advances to Title Game

WICHITA FALLS – A conference championship team is what Wildcat Head Coach Casey Wilson thought he had at the beginning of the season. ACU will get the opportunity to play for a Lone Star Conference Championship after a 2-0 win over Angelo State in the first ever post-season win for the Wildcats.
ACU would control the ball most of the game as they outshot the Rambelles 21-11. Just as the LSC's highest scoring offense would control the game the Wildcat defense limited ASU to only two shots on goal.
With 10 minutes left in the first half Krysta Grimm would score the game's first goal just to the left of the box. Julie Coppedge would get credit for the assist on the only goal in the first half.
Just like in the first half the Wildcats continued to control the ball on their end much of the second half. The Wildcats would add to their lead after a corner kick put the ball in front of the ASU goal, ACU took several shots having them all blocked before Anastasia Nelson finally found the back of the net.   Nelson's goal came after an Ashley Simon shot was blocked putting the Wildcats up 2-0.
The win marks the first post-season win of any kind in the Wildcat's four-year history of the program all under Wilson. ACU moves to a program record 15-3 on the season as Angelo State's season ends at 13-6-1.
The Wildcats move on to Sunday's LSC Championship game for the first time ever as they will face the winner of the 7 p.m. match between top seed Midwestern State and Central Oklahoma.
Kickoff on Sunday from MSU Soccer Field is set for 1 p.m.
