Wildcats Shutout Cardinals 1-0

SAN ANTONIO – Elliot London helped record the seventh shutout of the season for the Wildcats and Kristen Cavallo scored a late goal to give ACU a 1-0 win over Incarnate Word on Sunday at Benson Stadium.
ACU entered the game just a game ahead of Angelo State and Incarnate Word and finished the weekend with a little more separation in the Lone Star Conference standings. The Wildcats hold onto second place with two road games remaining before the conference post-season tournament.
Both teams fled the goals with shots in the first half; however, neither team could squeeze a goal playing to a scoreless tie at half. The keepers for both teams finished with three saves in the first half as well.
Cavallo kicked a loose ball to the high left side of the net for the game's only goal in the 75th minute. It was her first goal of the season picking up only her third start of the season.
London moved to 9-1 on the season as she recorded her fourth save of the season.
The shutout breaks another season record for the Wildcats, breaking their record of six shutouts in 2007. It also marks the first time in the program's young history to win 13 games and extend their winning streak to eight also a record for ACU.
The Wildcats will wrap-up the regular season next weekend with a pair of road games at Texas A&M-Commerce on Friday and Texas Women's on Sunday afternoon. The LSC Tournament is set for November 4 and will be at the site of the regular season champion.
