ABILENE – The ACU Wildcats evened their record Thursday night as they found the net three times for a 3-1 victory over Dallas Baptist in non-conference women's soccer action. The Wildcats used two goals from Courtney Wilson for the win at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
After a scoreless first half Lyndsey Womack caught the ball from mid field as she dribbled in the box and beat the Lady Patriots goal to put the Wildcats up 1-0.
It was in the 70th minute when Wilson's first goal came as she received a pass from Alyson Thomas near the left side of the net for their first score and assist of the season. However, just two minutes later Wilson was awarded a penalty kick after being tripped. The penalty kick put the Wildcats up 3-0 which was enough for ACU.
Crissy Lawson improved her save percentage to .854 and recorded the win. Freshmen Arielle Moncure replaced Lawson for the last 16 minutes where the Lady Patriots scored their only goal. A loose ball near the net in the 86 minute allowed Brittany Layne to push it just past Moncure giving the Lady Patriots their only score.
The Wildcats improve to 3-3 on the season and will face Texas-Permian Basin. Next Tuesday's match will be at 5 p.m. at Wildcat Soccer Pitch and will be the last non-conference game for the Wildcats before they begin LSC play.
