ABILENE – It took two extra periods, but the Wildcats found their third straight loss at the hands of Hardin-Simmons Tuesday night.
Cowgirl midfielder Carlyn Powers found the net on a header seven minutes into the second overtime to give HSU a 2-1 win at the HSU Soccer Complex.
The Wildcats tied the game in the 40th minute after freshmen Lexi Stirling found the net to record her first ACU goal and tie the game 1-1. Jordan Reese found her near the box for her first assist and second point of the season.
The Cowgirls were able to strike first when Taylor Thigpen scored her second goal of the season. Katie Kuykendall tallied both assists for Hardin-Simmons in the game.
ACU was outshot by HSU 26-25 although neither team was extremely accurate with only 14 shots coming on goal for the Wildcats and 11 for HSU.
ACU returns to the Wildcat Soccer Pitch on Thursdsay when it hosts Dallas Baptist at 5 p.m.
