CANYON – The ACU women's soccer team played to a draw Sunday afternoon in Canyon against 19 ranked West Texas A&M. For the Wildcats they move to 10-5-2 on the season and 5-2-2 in the Lone Star Conference while the Lady Buffs are 11-2-2 and 4-2-1 on the season.
Both teams struggled as the Wildcats only took six shots and the Lady Buffs attempted 12. It also marked only the third time all season the Wildcats were held under 10 shots with the other two also coming against ranked opponents.
Sophomore Elliot London recorded her first start for the Wildcats at goalkeeper as her and freshmen Arielle Moncure both tallied three saves a piece on the day.
The Wildcats are currently No.3 in the South Central Region where the top six teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The Lone Star Conference is also one of 19 conferences whose post-season tournament champion receives an automatic bid.
The third set of regional rankings will be announced Wednesday October 28 with the final poll being published November 4. Announcement for the selection of the NCAA Tournament will be made following the conference tournament on November 9.
The Wildcats will finish the regular season on the road at Midwestern State. Kickoff in Wichita Falls is slated for 5:30 p.m.
