ACU Offense Comes Alive Against UCO

EDMOND – The Wildcats were able to keep post-season hopes alive Sunday as they knocked off the conference's top ranked team Central Oklahoma. ACU used goals from four different players to hand UCO their first home loss in a 4-2 Lone Star Conference victory.

Freshmen Julie Coppedge dribbled past a couple Broncho defenders in the 76th minute giving the Wildcats a 3-2 lead. The goal is Coppedge's fourth on the season making her the second leading scorer for ACU behind Courtney Wilson.

Lyndsey Womack opened the scoring in just the 5th minute on a cross from Jordan Reese beating the UCO goalkeeper for an early 1-0 lead. After a UCO goal to tie the game Womack would return the favor this time to Krysta Grimm for her first goal of the season.

Late in the second half freshmen Lexi Stirling added her third goal of the season giving the Wildcats some breathing room at 4-2.

Making her first start for the Wildcats in the net was freshmen Arielle Moncure who recorded three saves. UCO had 14 shots but the continuous stingy defense by the Wildcats only allowed five of those shots on goal.

The Wildcats will have to wait and see if their loss on Friday will cause them to drop in the regional rankings as they are currently No.4 in the South Central Region. The win pushes the Wildcats record to 8-4-1 and 3-1-1 in the LSC.

ACU will finish out their final two home games of the season on Friday against Texas Woman's and on Sunday matinee with Texas A&M-Commerce at the Wildcat Soccer Pitch.
